Deborah Tallarico, RN, LPC Deborah Tallarico

I feel privileged to have the opportunity as a Licensed Professional Counselor to assist others in holistic healing and wellness. Through years of personal exploration and practice in a variety of mind- body therapies, I have discovered wellness to be a joyful life experience in self care. As a result of my own explorations, I truly believe in an integrative and holistic approach to health, and I gratefully offer these services to the community.

I am a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC), a Registered Nurse (RN), and a yoga practitioner. I received a masters degree in Community Counseling with a certificate in Expressive Arts Therapy and a concentration in Body-Centered Therapy from Appalachian State University in 2008. I received a Bachelor of Science Degree in Nursing from Clemson University in 1990. I have worked in counseling with Blue Mountain Center since 2008 and have over 20 years experience attending mind-body health and wellness in my work as a Registered Nurse. I also have practiced yoga since 1993 and completed a year-long Yoga Alliance-approved Yoga Teachers Training Program in 2005.

My work has grown from Jungian and humanistic psychological theory and experience. I believe that the individual has a natural inclination to move toward wholeness, and I believe that the unconscious mind is a valuable source for healing and personal development. Through authentic connection with others in the counseling session, a trusting space is created that allows for open communication and self-exploration. I often incorporate expressive arts and body-centered theory into my counseling work as well, when appropriate. Expressive art making can be a way to explore the unconscious, deepen self-connection and awareness, and create change. Body centered approaches and yoga can assist in developing present moment awareness, nurturing self compassion and care, and can promote stress relief and relaxation.

I offer counseling sessions designed for each individual‘s unique experience. I explore and treat issues such as depression, anxiety, stress, trauma, pain, illness, relationship difficulties, and grief. As part of this treatment, counseling may also involve exploring experiences of: wellness, hope, meaning, creativity, love, dreaming, individuality, spirituality, being, and becoming. I enjoy working with individual adults, children, couples, groups, and families. Using a holistic approach, combining all of my training and experience, I envision my role as a counselor as guiding individuals to their own inherent wisdom and healing.
