My general approach to therapy is to help clients connect more deeply with themselves and others. I aim to assist clients in developing greater awareness of their inner thoughts, feelings and experiences, and to help clients change what's not working for them and explore new possibilities that might be more effective.

I work with individuals, couples and families facing a variety of challenges - anxiety, burnout, trauma, communication problems, stuck patterns, or anyone just looking for more satisfaction in their work, their relationships, and their lives. I employ a highly experiential, integrative approach to therapy, incorporating research from divergent fields including neuroscience, mindfulness, epigenetics and trauma. I use a body-based approach when appropriate, helping clients explore how various bodily sensations are linked to their emotional experience. I collaborate with clients on setting goals and co-creating safety in our sessions while offering a wide range of grounding, integrating, and mindfulness practices.

I work to understand the diverse backgrounds and experiences of my clients, and the influence of each on their current lives. I welcome clients of diverse age, ability, race, ethnicity, gender, sexual orientation, socioeconomic status and religion.

Outside of work, I enjoy a regular mindfulness practice, growing food and flowers in my garden, cooking elaborate meals for family and friends, and long walks in the woods. I received an undergraduate degree in anthropology and Spanish, lived in Latin America for four years, and worked in public health for the first half of my professional career. I have taught yoga and mindfulness for over fifteen years and have a passion for sharing self-care techniques with students and clients alike.

I am a master’s candidate at Appalachian State University’s CACREP accredited Clinical Mental Health Counseling program with a projected graduation date of August 2022. As part of my practicum/internship experience, I am offering free counseling services at Blue Mountain Center for Integrative Health under the supervision of Suzi Woodard, LCMHCS.

Psychological well being, or mental health, is dependent upon multiple factors. These factors include physical, social, cultural, environmental, and spiritual health. As your counselor, one of my goals is to aid you in the process of deciphering how these various areas of your health are contributing to your presenting concern. From there, I want to support you in creating the change you wish to make. To do this, some of the therapies I may utilize include cognitive-behavioral, person-centered, and mindfulness-based approaches. When appropriate, I may also offer expressive arts therapies, ecotherapy, and/or mind-body connection work such as yoga.

In addition to learning how to provide you with the best integrative mental health care practices, I love to be outdoors, create art, and binge watch French Netflix series.

Thank you so much for taking the time to review my graduate student counseling profile. I hope to connect with you soon on your healing journey.
