Matthew Cooper, LPC Matthew Cooper

I am a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) and have also been an organic farmer since 2007. I was instrumental in launching the local community garden project and have been involved in a variety of environmental initiatives and services to local low income families. I helped start and have continued to be a part of the High Country CSA (Community Supported Agriculture) project, along with my active involvement in local farmers' markets.

My counseling approach is grounded in non-judgment, mindfulness, and self-discipline. I enjoy going for a walk with clients to talk about goals and issues, and sometimes meet with clients at my farm, where one can sit by the creek or pond or help pull weeds or harvest greens while talking. For those who prefer office space I can do that as well at Blue Mountain Center. I take a practical common-sense approach to accomplishing goals and resolving problems, which seems to be appreciated by my clients.

My wife and I live with our two lovely daughters and our loyal dog in an environmentally friendly home we recently designed and built with friends in western Watauga County.
